Paper Cuts

A new collection inspired by my other creative project, writing fiction. Steven King says writing is telepathy, and I agree. I put words on a page, you read them, and your mind conjures up an image that’s a lot like mine. The magic happens every time someone reads it (and no, you can’t read it). Instead, enjoy my art of fiction springing to life.

Light and Men

Minimalist portraits painted in light. We are used to seeing what’s solid, not the light that hits it. My aim is to create ‘just enough’ light for our minds to picture what it illuminates. Why men? The female muse is everywhere, from renaissance to pop art. But there is beauty and interest in men’s faces too, and subverting the trope is fun. These portraits are my most affordable original artworks.

Floral Still Life

I grow a little cottage style garden, a habit that snuck up on me in my thirties. Up close, flowers look incredible. They’re all sinuous lines and rich textures, papery-thin or velvety thick, spiny or ruffly, and so inviting to the eye. These florals are composed with a macro lens, painted with creamy soft oils, and colour saturated to give a dreamy fantasy landscape feel.

After the Fall

When I had a lull in painting, I started writing science fiction. In my story world, cities, societies and infrastructure have crumbled. After the Fall envisages what our cities might look in the throes of nature reclamation. A bit Dystopia, a bit Utopia, painted in cinematic animation style with a Studio Ghibli feel. Small paintings in acrylic on board, with a cute little stand so it can sit on your shelf.

Woodcut Prints

Woodcut printing and still life are classics of the art world, and I’m bringing them together to create this series of Australian wildflower prints. Think wattles, banksias and waratahs, all arranged like they’re on your kitchen table. Limited to editions of twenty, each print is hand pressed and finished with painted details, making it one of a kind.

Native Birds

I came to the art world painting Australian native birds - our favourites like cockatoos, magpies, and gang gangs. My mum hand-raised them, and I helped her rear a yellow-tail black that used to preen my eyelashes. Painted in watercolour to capture the intricacy and vibrancy of feathers as well as their dynamic characters. This collection includes fine art prints in all sizes, and a few remaining original paintings.
