I’m Liss, a Canberra based artist best known for my paintings and prints of Australian birds. I’ve branched out with new collections of portraits, floral still life, woodcut prints, and fiction themed paintings. All work is for sale. I hope you find something inspiring!
Woodcut printing and still life are both classical arts, and I'm bringing them together to create this series of hand made Australian wildflower prints. Think wattles, banksias and waratahs, all arranged as though they’re on your kitchen table.
I use a combination of European and Japanese printmaking techniques, starting with inking a carved wooden block and hand-pressing the image onto paper. One of a limited edition run of twenty, each print is unique. I vary the paper and printing process, and finish the print with hand painted details to create one of a kind.
