Acrylic on board, 30 x 30cm. Ready to hang or stand on your desk.
The Lark is the first in a new project that I’m really enjoying. I think of it as a combination of 2D origami and quilling, giving the impression that something rises from the pages of a book. I paint birds and I (secretly) write books, so I started there. Many fictional characters to come.
This is among my first paintings in acrylic. Acrylic paint is simple, unlike my watercolour birds. Paint it on and it dries quickly, paint over it if you want. I love the combination of flat colour that it offers, paired with a three dimensional design.
This painting is on lightweight and resilient acrylic board, with a cute little stand so that it can sit on your shelf. Also suitable for hanging.

About this collection
A new concept inspired by my other creative project, writing fiction. Steven King says writing is telepathy, and I agree. I put words on a page, you read them, and your mind creates a whole world that I have invited it to. I don’t even have to be there, the magic happens every time someone reads it (and no, you can’t read it, it will forever remain behind a pen name). Instead, enjoy my art inspired by fiction springing to life from the page.
30 x 30cm, Acrylic on board, ready to hang or stand on your desk.
The first in my After the Fall series imagines Sydney on a windswept spring day, years after abandonment, as plants recarpet the streets. I love the feel of cinematic animation and this series is my version, finding the utopia in what looks like our rather dystopian future.

About this collection
When I had a lull in painting, I started writing science fiction. In my story world the cities, infrastructure, and societies have all crumbled. They say sci-fi and fantasy are ways to explore the conceivable, and social collapse certainly is. After the Fall envisages what our cities might look like afterwards, in the throes of nature reclamation. A bit Dystopia, a bit Utopia, painted in cinematic animation style with a Studio Ghibli feel. Small paintings in acrylic on board, with a cute little stand so it can sit on your shelf.
Handpainted woodcut print on Japanese Kozo rice paper, 45x45cm. Signed and numbered on the front.
It's almost a bottlebrush but round and cuter - the fluffy flowers of Kunzea Baxteri. Found all over Australia and with one species also native to New Zealand, they come in reds, pinks, purples, pale yellows and white. I’ve kept this print monotone, with just the block printing ink and details in drawing ink. I've used Japanese Kozo paper, which is thin but strong, made from the mulberry tree. There will be a maximum of twenty of these prints, so if this isn't the perfect one for you, then keep an eye out for one of its siblings.
Colour requests: If you would like one of these prints with a particular colour theme, I’ll make it yours! Please get in touch with your idea.

Framing Advice
This is a standard size (18” x 18”), and you can find affordable off-the-shelf frames if you prefer to frame it yourself. I can arrange professional framing similar to that shown here, for around the same as you would pay plus the extra packaging and shipping costs. For more details, see my framing advice.
About this collection
Woodcut printing and still life are both classical arts, and I'm bringing them together to create this series of hand made Australian wildflower prints. Think wattles, banksias and waratahs, all arranged as though they’re on your kitchen table. I use a combination of European and Japanese printmaking techniques, starting with inking a carved wooden block and hand-pressing the image onto paper. One of a limited edition run of twenty, each print is unique. I vary the paper and printing process, and finish the print with hand painted details to create one of a kind.
Acrylic paint on paper, 8” x 10” (20 x 25cm).
Noa is third in a series of minimalist portraits painted in light. These pieces are painted on repurposed materials, courtesy of The Green Shed in Canberra. Noa is painted on velvety matte fine sandpaper.

About this collection
We’re used to seeing what’s solid, not the light that hits it. My aim is to create just enough light for our minds to picture what it illuminates. There is no way to remove paint marks, so these are an exercise in restraint and stopping before I’m ‘done’.
Why men? The female muse is everywhere, from renaissance to pop art. But there is beauty and interest in men’s faces too, and subverting the trope is fun. There is diversity, too, with men of Asian, Pacific Islander, African and other heritages.
These pieces use repurposed materials. This one is painted on very fine sandpaper, courtesy of Canberra’s waste recovery centre The Green Shed. It has a rich matte velvety texture.
Light and Men portraits are my most affordable original artworks. While I personally like (and buy) fine art prints to enjoy art that I couldn’t otherwise afford, there is still something special about an original. I’d like to give more people the opportunity to have one of their own.

Mixed media on paper, 39 x 39cm. Signed on the back.
This piece is inspired by the ruffly paper-thin petals of poppies in the sunlight, painted in a fantasy apricot palette.
It’s one of my first florals, and has a lot of elements to it. I started with an underpainting in soft pastels, which gives it a glow. A glaze of acrylic paint gives the uniform cool palette, and and mica powder finishes it with a pop of colour. Zoom in for the interesting textures!

About this Collection
Flowers are so inviting to the eye — all sinuous lines and rich textures, papery-thin or velvety thick, spiny or ruffly. It’s very conventional subject matter, but I want you to see what I see, so I paint them a little differently. These floral still lifes are composed with a macro lens view, painted with creamy soft oils, and colour saturated to give a dreamy fantasy landscape feel.

This piece is inspired by the ruffly paper-thin petals of poppies in the sunlight, painted in a fantasy mauve palette.

A glaze of acrylic paint gives the uniform cool palette, and oil pastel and mica powder finish it with a pop of colour. Zoom in for the interesting textures! The flecks of white you will see close up are because the mica powder shimmers in the light — expect it to sparkle a bit.
Signed on the back and sealed with a fine matte varnish, to protect the artwork.

Oil on canvas, ready to hang. 40 x 40cm
Inspired by the wall of ANZAC poppies at the War Memorial in Canberra. It's one of the first places visitors to Canberra go, and I drive past on the way to work. They also feature in my garden every year, popping up from seed in about September. Simple but showy.

Painted to accompany the Lady Gang Gang, he even perches beside her on the same branch. My favourite thing about this piece is the subtle colour on the wings. It's something I've been slowly perfecting as I work through the dark cockatoos.

About this collection
I came to the art world painting Australian native birds - our favourites like cockatoos, magpies, and gang gangs. My mum hand-raised native birds, and I helped her rear a yellow-tail black cockatoo that used to preen my eyelashes. Painted in watercolour, these capture the intricacy and vibrancy of feathers as well as the dynamic character of our native birds. The collection includes fine art prints in all sizes, and a few remaining original paintings.
Gang Gangs are the ACT’s faunal emblem. I painted this lady in a slightly different style than my usual work, using ink to render her intricate barred feathers. It took me six weeks (and two attempts) to finish. She is now accompanied by Sir Gang Gang, her mate.

An inflight capture of one of those cheeky, screechy Sulphur Crests who like to swoop in front of my car and dangle from the powerlines overhead. There's a woman in my street who feeds them, so I see them almost every day. As I am from WA, I never saw them on the loose like this until I moved to Canberra. I love their charisma, and the expressiveness of the brilliant yellow crest.

I have a special fondness for these birds. They used to fill the sky at my childhood home near Perth in flocks so big they took five minutes to pass. I also know them to be the most gentle of birds, because I helped to hand-raise one. His name is Garp, and he loved preening my eyelashes.

I painted this for my nephew, who lists emus amongst his favourite animals. I love the character of these birds, and want to paint more! The most stylised of my paintings, this has been popular as a gift for both kids and adults.

I’ve finished my long-awaited pair of yellow-tail black cockatoos (Zanda funerea). They’re a breeding pair, with some tell-tale differences. The female has a bone-grey beak and eye rings, and the male sports a dark grey beak and brighter red eyeliner.
You will find these beauties across the Eastern coast of Australia, from Queensland through to South Australia. They love coastal bushland and are rarely found close to cities, though if you’re lucky you can spot them at the outskirts of Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne. These cockatoos have a distinctly loud wail (once you recognize it you can’t mistake it) and a deep relaxed wingbeat. They band together as they fly long-distance over the bushland.
I wanted to bring out their lively personalities and grace in this painting. They’re big birds with a big voice, confident in the air, and unafraid in their environment. The male plays in the air ready to dive-bomb his partner, while she balances on her high and spindly perch with tail spread and wings ready. A game will follow.
