Sold Out

Acrylic on board, 30 x 30cm. Ready to hang or stand on your desk.

The Lark is the first in a new project that I’m really enjoying. I think of it as a combination of 2D origami and quilling, giving the impression that something rises from the pages of a book. I paint birds and I (secretly) write books, so I started there. Many fictional characters to come.

This is among my first paintings in acrylic. Acrylic paint is simple, unlike my watercolour birds. Paint it on and it dries quickly, paint over it if you want. I love the combination of flat colour that it offers, paired with a three dimensional design.

This painting is on lightweight and resilient acrylic board, with a cute little stand so that it can sit on your shelf. Also suitable for hanging.

About this collection

A new concept inspired by my other creative project, writing fiction. Steven King says writing is telepathy, and I agree. I put words on a page, you read them, and your mind creates a whole world that I have invited it to. I don’t even have to be there, the magic happens every time someone reads it (and no, you can’t read it, it will forever remain behind a pen name). Instead, enjoy my art inspired by fiction springing to life from the page.

I’m Liss, a Canberra based artist best known for my paintings and prints of Australian native birds. Explore bird art prints and new collections of original artwork, all avaialable to buy through the gallery shop.

Canberra is Ngunnawal country. I aknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the traditional owners of the land where I live, and all First Nations people as custodians of the land, flora and fauna that inspire my art.
